The Key to Succesfull Multi-Table Play
With the creation of the live era on internet poker this meant that you were no longer limited to travelling miles to find yourself a poker game and then sitting through maybe 20 hands an hour to win relatively small pots at the end of a 2/3 hour game.
With the introduction of internet poker the only factors limiting you to how many hands you can play and hour is your own free time and stamina, you would never see someone making a living playing 10 cent 25 cent if they were just sitting at the one table but you will find many players making a living at this small limits if they are play 5 maybe 10 tables at a time.
Some people do say that multi tabling Is a waste of time as it doesn’t allow you proper thinking time for some of your more strategic decisions this may be true in the respect that you cannot pay 100% attention and time to 10 tables as you can 1 but to sacrifice that little dip in playing ability at each individual table they do give them self a huge advantage In the sheer volume of hand they can play and the increased profitability of their play.
Multi Tabling Basics
If you are yourself a complete novice and new comer to online poker multi tabling is not for you as it is better to try and master the game required to succeed at one table before tackling 3 or 4 tables at once.
Playing more tables means that you have to make more decisions this can be come overwhelming if you are a new player having to contemplate making a big raise on one table as you get timed out on another if you are not careful it can end up loosing you more money than you make the best thing to do is start slow if you are struggling to keep up with the action on 2 tables don’t try and add another just ease yourself into the games and only when you feel confident with those two tables do you consider adding any more.
The reason I say this is because if you start adding more and more tables and lose track of the hands you have on each table let alone the bets other players have made you will start to make bad decisions and bad decisions mean that you will eventually start to loose money which is the complete opposite reason behind adding more tables in the first place.
Also if you find yourself getting in a bit of a muddle in the end of a game just refer back to basics and miss out on tough marginal decisions as you can be safe in the knowledge that a more profitable situation is going to present itself in the near future
Prioritizing Decisions
Regardless of the amount of tables your are playing you need to be able to identify the easier decisions form the harder more thought provoking ones you need to be able to clear the easy decisions right away to leave yourself the most time to make the harder decisions, as it will be vary rare to find you making a tough decision at one or more tables at once usually you will be faced with one tough call and the rest are easy decisions that should take seconds to make.
The key to a good multi - Tabler is the ability to be in deep thought about one table while simultaneously making decisions on another table in an auto pilot mode.
Table Selection
Table selection is as important as the playing of the table itself if you are playing 5/6 tables and making decisions every few seconds this does not mean that you Table selection should suffer any for this, you do not want to be playing at a Loose table where every time you make an opening bet it is raised up by one or more of the players at the table. The same applies if the table is to tight with no pots hands being played you do not want to subject your self to this playing a single table so this should also be the case playing 5/6 tables, not only will it help you as a player but will also help to maximise potential profit.
Know your limits
Everybody knows how many tables they can play successfully while being able to keep a good level of concentration on each, you should avoid playing so many tables that you go into a complete autopilot on all but one or two as poker is a game of thought there is no way around this and if you are not playing 10 tables and only thinking on 2 of them you are eventually going to start loosing money, obviously being able to play on auto pilot is essential to multi tabling you need to make sure you are not playing so many tables that the only thing you brain has time to do is play every hand in auto pilot.
If you are only playing one tables at a time you are limiting your potential profit, if however you are a winning game with some small adjustments you should not struggle to add 1 maybe 2 more tables straight away and with it straight away double or triple your potential earnings.
