Finding The Right Opponent – Making Money At Poker
Most people that play poker do so to win there are a very limited number that do it purely for a hobby, but then you will find these players normally lurking in the micro limits and that is just not the place a serious poker player is going to make good money in anyway. It is essential to try and maximise profit at every available opportunity and selecting the right players to come across is a major opportunity to take advantage of.
You have to try and isolate the bad Players (fish) and try and involve yourself in a many pots (heads-Up) with these players as possible if you are the better player then obviously you will make consistent money from coming up against these weaker opponents. Fish are not as common place as they once used to be as with the growing awareness of poker, came more players that actually spent time learning the game. However they are still about you just have to spot them. You can do this by Observing Fellow Poker Players to identify the good from the bad
Where to Sit?
The best place to sit is directly left of a fish if you ever find a seat open in this position you should sit there straight away, if you sit to the left of them it will make isolating that player is a much easier task. This is because every time he limps in you can raise up and force the rest of the table out to fold fish love to call so hopefully you will induce many heads up pots with this player. You do not need to raise under Premiums hands, the whole range of playable hands should be enough to isolate a fish with. Obviously you will not be able to always get to the direct left of a fish in fact it will be on rare occasions that you do but this does not stop you from still isolating them, if they are constantly cold calling you can still raise up on them and hope they are the only caller left after your raise.
Raising with even weak hands
Under normal circumstances you should play fairly tight as you will only lose money if you are loose and aggressive with weak holding hands, however a fish is liable to play pretty much any hand that is in front of him this there fore means that you can even extract a profit with a relatively poor starting hand as the fish rarely knows where they stand off the flop so you will get readily paid off more often than if you were up against a good player.
Since you are the better player due to the extensive knowledge you have gained through the yourpokernow.com strategy section. You can now play the fish at your will and extract good money from them fish will play to far with bad hands Post-Flop meaning they throw endless amounts of money at you.
Do not try play a hand with a fish and a couple of good player or you may yourself be in trouble and one of the good players lurks in the background with the nuts, in the same respect you do not want to be going in with multiple fish where you can avoid it and it heightens the risk of them getting lucky and you leaving the hand with a lighter chip stack. Just remember that you are the better player and as long as you can get the fish heads up as often as possible you should start to make some good money from them.
