Pokerstars battle of the planets
Pokerstars are currently running a new leader board promotion called battle of the planets, which gives away a staggering $3,000,000 per year. This promotion is based around sit & go events, there are 9 leaders boards for the event all named after planets in the solar system. These planets represent a buy-in level of sit & go tournament, for instance mercury leader board is for sit & go tournaments with buy-ins ranging from ($1-$2.99) all the way through the planets to Jupiter, which carries a buy in off ($300+).
Each of the 8 planets are spilt into two leaders board there is the lower orbit leader board, this is focused at the players who play poker as a recreational activity so therefore do not play many tournaments during a month. The second tier is the higher orbit leader board; this is more for the focused and high volume poker player.
Each planet has its own weekly prize pool which is spread out between the two leaders boards. This means that every player at poker stars has the opportunity to earn big money, no matter how often they player, their skill level, or their bankroll.

How the lower orbit leader board works
The lower orbit tournament leader board is recorded in blocks of 20 tournaments; you are allowed to play up to 5 blocks of 20 tournaments. Blocks will go in 20s all the way up to 100, even if you play all 5 blocks it will only be your best block of tournaments that will count towards the division leader board.
For example if you have played 26 tournaments your leader board score will only be determined by the first 20 tournaments, therefore the last 6 tournaments that you took part in have no effect on your division score.
High orbit leader boards
High orbit leader’s board work in exactly the same way as lower orbit leader board, the only difference between the two is higher orbit leader boards are calculated in blocks of 100 tournaments. There is no limit to how many tournaments you play in a higher orbit leader board but again like the lower orbit leader board only your best block of tournaments will count to your final score, for example if you play 110 tournaments, your first 100 will count to your final score while you last 10 tournaments will have no bearing on your leader board position. So if you play 101 or 1001 tournaments you have an equal chance of winning.
